I bought a Hydratek2000 well drilling system- their 450 unit. There are some things one should know. First, customer service from Hydratek is worse than abysmmal, it is nonexistant. You can not order anything, if you are having troubles they will not talk to you. The equipment on the website looks great - do not be deceived. Their outstanding water swivel leaks after only a few hours use, the forever replaced drill bits are simply junk if you are drilling in anyting other than dirt or clay - hit a rock and you are through - the drill rod is 1 and 3/8 OD schedule 40 pipe in 5 foot lenghts that has standard pipe threads and collars on it - when you are drilling in anything other than dirt or clay those sections become screwed together so tightly that I have to use a 2 foot long cheater pipe on my wrenches to get these sections apart. Further, consider the fact that you might be some 150 to 200 feet to water - that means some 30 to 40 5 foot sections of pipe screwed together with standard pipe thread that you are going to take in and out of the hole at least 3 to 4 times. That is as many as 8 x 40 = 320 assemblies and disassemblies - each one taking as much as five minutes and that is if things come apart easily. My advice? Steer clear of Hydratek2000 and any of their products.
Finally, some good news. I have recently discovered the folks at A and D drilling. I ordered a rock bit and an adapter from them and got some sterling advice from Allan about well drilling. They actually answer email and phone calls, and help you with your problems. In future, I will deal with them exclusively. Hard lessons and not cheap either.
