ADTR52 (IADC 5-2-1) Soft to Medium Soft Formations The ADTR52 design for efficient drilling of soft to medium formations such as shale, red bed, limestone and other strata of low compressive strength with hard streaks or abrasive properties. This design employs a maximum offset and features all chisel shaped tungsten carbide inserts which are spaced slightly farther apart than normal to insure the highest possible rate of penetration against abrasion and insures the longest possible bearing life. Suggested operating weights are 1,000 to 3,000 pounds per inch of bit diameter with corresponding rotary speeds of 200 to 50 RPM.
ADTR53 (IADC 5-3-1) Medium Soft Formations
The ADTR53 design utilizes the same cone structure as the ADTR52 but with all conical shaped inserts for efficient drilling in medium soft formations such as shale, sandstone, and alluvial deposits. This design employs the same maximum offset as the ADTR52; however, the conical shaped inserts provide greater wear resistance in the harder formations for which the bit is designed to drill. Ample hard facing is applied to the shirttail providing maximum protection against abrasion and insures the longest possible bearing life.
The most effective weight range varies from 1,500 to 5,000 RPM give best performance. Rotary speed should be decreased as weight is increased.
ADTR63 (IADC 6-3-1)
Medium Hard Formations The ADTR63 is designed for medium hard formations that are semi-abrasive such as hard, sandy limestone, shale, dolomite and limestone with cherty streaks. This design features conical shaped tungsten carbide inserts on the gage rows to inhibit gage wear and chisel shaped inserts on the inner rows to get maximum penetration. Gouging/scraping action is provided by cone offset. Ample hard facing on the shirttail provides maximum protection against abrasion and insures the longest possible bearing life.
Suggested operating weights are 1,500 to 6,000 pounds per inch of bit diameter with corresponding rotary speeds of 140 to 55 RPM. Near the bit stabilization is recommended for maximum bit life.
ADTR64 (IADC 6-4-1)
Medium Hard to Hard Formations The ADTR64 is similar to the ADTR63 but with dome shaped tungsten carbide inserts on the gage rows and chisel shaped inserts on the inner rows for best performance in tight and well cemented medium hard to hard formations such as abrasive limestone, sandstone and dolomite where maximum gage wear resistance is required. Ample hard facing is applied to the shirttail providing maximum protection against abrasion and insures the longest possible bearing life.
Suggested operating weights are 1,500 to 6,000 pounds per inch of bit diameter, while rotary speeds of 140 to 55 RPM give best performance. Rotary speed should be decreased as the weight is increased. Near the bit stabilization is also recommended for maximum bit life.
ADTR74 (IADC 7-4-1)
Medium Hard to Hard Formations The ADTR74 features a minimum offset cutting structure design and all dome shaped tungsten carbide inserts. It is designed to drill hard and abrasive formations such as quartzite, granite, cherty iron ores, and copper porphyry. As with other A & D Drilling Supply / PORTADRILLMINI ® bit designs, this design features shirttail hard facing for maximum resistance to bearing wear.
The drilling weights should range from 1,500 to 8,000 pounds per inch of bit diameter. As drilling weights are increased the rotational speed, which ranges from 120 to 50 RPM, should be decreased. Near the bit stabilization is highly recommended for maximum bit life, and pull down drills should be equipped with shock absorbers.
Our Tungsten Carbide Drill Bits are designed to provide a fast rate of penetration, high durability and long bit life.
Each bit design represents a unique effort to provide the right selection of insert size, spacing, shape, hardness, protrusion, and material selection for use in different types of rock formations.
The Tungsten Carbide computer designed insert bits give optimum results in the field, by eliminating tracking and off center rotation.
We offer a wide variety of types of chisel, conical and spherical shaped tungsten carbide inserts, each uniquely designed for drilling in specific types of rock formations
Now it's easy and affordable to acquire the products you need without depleting your cash or borrowing from the bank. By taking advantage of equipment leasing you have a cost-effective way to obtain Well Drilling equipment and supplies at a price you can afford. Leasing is available only for commercial, professional, and not-for-profit organizations — retail customers or month-to-month rentals. Transactions are originated through independent lessors. The leasing option is one more reason that A & D Drilling Supply Corp. is the "Professional's Source."
